Matterhorn, CH (16.07.2022)

It’s not only the mountains, with
snowy peaks and treacherous falls,
an ascent from a chaotic mind —
just as challenging for a human.
Sizing up a hill from it’s foot,
craning one’s neck upwards,
using gaze as a measuring stick —
equally nerve-wracking
as pulling oneself out of bed,
on a dark morning, with
not much to look forward to.

Yet, it’s the first steps up
that are the most crushing of all,
first activity in the morning —
the most daunting to conquer.
Like a solo hiker up the mountain,
a solo crusader of one’s own mind
is bound to find friendly fellows,
each scaling their own mountain
inside their own heads, built
as their worldviews and realities collide,
the faults in their own footing manifest
as insurmountable peaks all around.

Up, together, is the only way out.
